My name is Kristin Orsi and I am the Recruitment Coordinator for Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center and I'm reaching out to see if Hall High would be interested in or willing to help us find some summer camp counselors and lifeguards for this upcoming summer. It would really be a great help to us. Overnight counselors must be at least 18 years old but day camp counselors and lifeguards can be as young as 16.

Ferncliff is an absolutely wonderful place for young people to work and would be a great thing for your students to have on their resumes as they are applying to colleges. I've attached a flyer and a link to our Summer Staff page to the bottom of this email, which you can feel free to print and post at school or send to students. You could also just send the information along to any specific students you may have in mind.

We would greatly appreciate the advertising for Ferncliff, but absolutely no worries if this is not possible.

If you or any students have any questions, please let me know and I'd be happy to discuss things further

THE FILMMAKING LAB FOR TEEN GIRLS

Picture
WE'RE BACK - THE FILMMAKING LAB FOR TEEN GIRLS KICKS OFF JUNE 2024!

Applications are now open for our annual immersive filmmaking experience.

Dates:  June 10-28, 2024
Time:  Monday-Friday; 9 am - 5 pm
Location:  AMFA
Ages:  16-18
Cost:  Free
Deadline:  April 19th

It’s that time again–applications are open now through April 19th for the Filmmaking Lab for Teen Girls (FL4TG) for students in their junior or senior years. The Lab is taught by working film professionals from all over the country and participants will film and edit their own 5 minute short.

Taking place June 10-28th at AMFA in Little Rock, FL4TG gives young women a chance to experience directing, cinematography, editing, production design, lighting, sound recording and to ask questions about careers in the male-dominated world of cinema. ACS is taking one small step to help correct this inequity of women in the film workforce by giving young women the opportunity to take on leadership roles while learning the craft of this visual art.

The Lab is free to participants, thanks to our sponsor the Women's Foundation of Arkansas. During the Lab, participants will gain a true sense of how films are a collaborative endeavor and the power that film can have to shape the social narrative. Their films are showcased during our annual festival, Filmland, which attracts statewide and national film talent. Past students from the Lab have even had the opportunity for a private Q+A session with award-winning actor and producer, Jessica Chastain, writer Lucy Alibar and Bert of directing duo Bert & Bertie!

Watch the previous FL4TG films here:
  • 2019 - "Justitia"
  • 2019 - "Ensemble"
  • 2020 - "Super Human"
  • 2021 - "Drop It"
  • 2022 - "A Period Piece"
