The Pulaski County Alumni Chapter of UAPB/AM&N is offering five (5) scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving students from Pulaski, Saline, and Faulkner Counties who plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The scholarships will be awarded based on a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above, a composite score of 17 or higher on the ACT, involvement in school and community activities, and leadership skills. These scholarships will cover expenses for one academic year.
1) The applicant must be a graduating senior from Pulaski, Saline, or Faulkner County High Schools. 2) To qualify for consideration, the applicant must possess a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of no less than 2.75, based on a 4.0 scale, as well as a minimum composite score of 17 on the American College Testing (ACT) exam. Please note that only those applicants who meet these two requirements will be considered for admission. 3) The applicant must declare their intent to enroll at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff during the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants must include a copy of the institution’s acceptance letter OR a copy of the student’s UAPB fall semester schedule. 4) The applicant must fill out the scholarship application form completely and accurately. Please ensure that all sections of the form are completed before submitting it. 5) The applicant must upload all the following documents
6) The recipient and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to provide written consent for the chapter to share their names and photos with local newspapers, publications, and social media for the purposes of recognizing the award. The award shall be disbursed to the UAPB/AM&N National Alumni Office. Upon receipt of proof of enrollment or an official letter from the admissions office bearing the college or university's seal, the chapter shall credit the recipient's student account with 50% of the total award. The second-semester award shall be contingent on the recipient achieving a grade point average of 2.75 or higher during the first semester. It is important to note that failure to adhere to all guidelines shall render the applicant ineligible to receive the award. Award Criteria Applicants are eligible for the following three types of scholarship awards: National Scholastic Achievement Awards ($2,000) The student has a GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent Honors Awards ($500 to $2,000) The student has a GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent General Awards ($250 to $1,000) Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators; however, emphasis may be placed on the individual’s motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which can best be revealed through a personal interview and in the personal essay. One from an academic teacher or employment supervisor and another from a school official (i.e., a guidance counselor, a principal, or an assistant principal) who can verify the student's scholarship. ● Letters must be in an envelope with the proper seal and signature of the guidance counselor. NO PHOTOCOPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
